And to add to your misery, once you have transitioned to the micro sim, you old sim will be inactivated.

In addition, you would probably have had to recopy your address book into the new phone anyway, because with android phones your contacts aren't stored on the sim card but rather with Google.

Yes, working now but they have nothing to be proud of. :)

I hope there is some advantage to them for the new web site form because it doesn't add anything for me.

Yes, as long as it's the same size SIM (full size/micro size) etc, and your new phone is unlocked, or locked to Rogers, then it should work.

Really? My phones have always given me the choice of save to phone or save to SIM so I default to SIM and each time I've upgraded the numbers are there. (Mind you, the SIM can be annoying because I can't save addresses etc. to it, so my Google contacts have more details. :) )

I'm thinking of borrowing a SIM cutter and ordering cheap adapters off eBay.

Still disgusted with SO. They changed the website within hours of my calling them out on it but it's still MY problem as far as they're concerned.

This is day 5 and I still can not log on to my account. Requesting a password reset and I never get an email. I filled in a "Contact Us Form Submission" but never heard a thing. I tried calling your 1-888 number but was in queue for over 30 minutes and gave up. Directly send them an email. Nothing. What is going on?

I can understand that a new system/webpage may have bugs but what is wrong with their support. They could respond... Not impressed.

Pretty much the same story with me cdikland. Not looking forward to calling customer service.

Finally reset my password, and my phone number is no longer associated with my account. Try to add it and it says someone else is already using it. Call tech support, sit on hold for 15 minutes, then get told to call back later and hung up on. But I'm sure the kids will flock to your service in droves now that you have to click on multiple icons to do the same thing that a single click on a text link used to do.

Great job Rogers, you just lost yourself a customer.

Other than the network this has nothing to do with Rogers.

I really had no problems with the new site. Just had to change my password, nothing else.
I like the new site as well. It's much more streamlined.

I guess SpeakOut is very inconsistent in their performance on this issue. I've been trying daily since Jan 3rd with no results at all. I had a similar issue after porting my number in and trying to add it to my account. It took three calls to customer service before the issue was resolved by a service tech.

I'm not impressed with their service to say the least.

I have been trying to reach their customer service department for 5 days. Finally, I reached someone today. Their system says they are experiencing greater than normal call volumes and ask you to hold and then, after sever minutes, hang-up on you! I was trying to resolve an issue I had with activating a new SIM on my existing account/phone number. The CS rep told me I should have known better and that it was my fault that it would be necessary for me to go out and buy another SIM card. So obnoxious! I'll be looking for another provider.sf-yell_gif

I have had some very poor customer service experiences with company lately and would like to start escalating my concerns to the V.P. level. Who owns and controls SpeakOut Wireless? I want to research and find the executives responsible.

Been a week now since I activated my sim card, and I still can't add it to my account, let alone add funds and actually make phone calls. Complaint was registered within hours of activation with customer service, but still the same error: "SpeakOut number is already registered"

Nice scam, since I can't return my sim card now that the package has been opened.

Not sure what you are trying to do. If you bought a new sim card, call customer service right away to activate it and transfer the account/balance to it. I've done this with no problems.
If you aren't trying to transfer an account to a new sim, register the account online, and see if you can add funds there.
If I'm wrong on this. Sorry, it's been a long day. :)

I believe it is fairly standard practice that if you want an account already existing(number) transferred to a new sim card, you do not activate the new sim card but you contact customer service. If you already activated it I can understand you need a new sim card. Not a huge expense for an user error, unless I misunderstood.
Think of the savings you will achieve with the simple added expense of one more sim card.
Their business model is such that the stores can't hand out free replacements and if they were to send one to you would you want to wait 1-2 weeks?

quote the FAQ.................
I have a new phone that uses a different size SIM card. How can I keep my number and account balance?
If you already have an active SpeakOut account, and need to move your number and account balance to a new SIM, DO NOT ACTIVATE YOUR NEW SIM CARD. Please contact Customer Care at 1-866-310-1023 to initiate a SIM swap. Be sure to make this call from a phone other than the SpeakOut phone you are wanting to swap.

BytheBay on Freedom now better than SpeakOut

IS Freedom better?

While the CCTS calls out SpeakOut on their flat refusal to reimburse airtime purchased for an incorrectly advertised phone I started shopping around.

I had the 100 minutes + data at $30 but it seems to me that the Freedom package, with UNLIMITED talk and text and 100MB data, or the $35 package with 2G data is a way better deal. They also seem to offer roaming. (Not to mention that the phones appear to be somewhat less...how shall I say...bargain bin-ish sf-wink_gif .)

Does anyone have any experience with Freedom, or am I missing something about their rates?

Most of the complaints about Freedom (Wind) is the spotty coverage. With Speakout, you get the benefits of Rogers' big network.

I agree, have been corresponding with "customer service" for over a week just to move a new # they imposed on my new phone to my old account and re-use my old number. Had to resort to this because there is no direct online way to do a sim card swap (old phone was full-size sim, new phone is mini-sim), and of course the phone system just wastes your time then cuts you off. Have never experienced such awful customer service. Even Aeroplan, notorious for bad service, will let you wait for over 90 minutes BUT NOT HANG UP ON YOU.

Will soon be contacting these folks unless they get their act together.

Neither of the 2 bonehead apologists that replied know what you're talking about, but I do because I got ripped off the same way. Activated a new simcard over the phone (because of course the website didn't work) and can't use the number because the website says "SpeakOut number is already registered." when you click Generate Text. Customer service hasn't done shit, so I sold my voucher minutes on craigslist and moved on to a different provider. What a scam
