Does anyone know why or for how long the Speakout webpage will be down for? I have to put minutes on my phone which I do by logging into my online account because getting to a nearby 7-11 isn't easy...

Yes it is the carrier. iMessage activates by sending a short code sms message to their server. Speak out does not let the short code sms go through.
